Company

A technology company built for the real world.

Aletheia Labs designs, builds, secures and operates technology for organizations that need it to keep working, long after the project that produced it has finished.

About

What Aletheia Labs is.

Aletheia Labs is a technology services company. We build software, websites and web applications, and we secure and run the infrastructure underneath them. Those two halves are deliberately not separated: the people who build a system are the people best placed to run it.

The company is organized in Kentucky and based in Louisville. Our clients are government agencies at the federal, state and local level, the prime contractors who serve them, and businesses that need public-sector discipline in their own systems.

We work with a small number of clients at a time. That is a deliberate constraint rather than a growth stage: it is what makes direct access to the engineer doing the work possible, and it is what lets us stand behind what we deliver.

Aletheia is the Greek word for truth, or literally “the state of not being hidden.” It is a fair description of how we think systems should be built: visible, documented and honest about their condition.

How we work

Four operating principles.

These are working rules, not values on a wall. Each one has a cost attached, which is how you can tell we mean them.

01

Write it down

Architecture decisions, infrastructure inventories, runbooks and handover notes. If knowledge lives only in someone’s head, the client is exposed, including to us leaving.

02

Own the boring parts

Patching, certificate renewal, backup verification, dependency updates. Unglamorous work is where reliability actually comes from, so we take responsibility for it explicitly.

03

Say the difficult thing early

If a deadline is unrealistic, a requirement is contradictory, or an existing system is worse than reported, you hear it at the point we find out, not in a post-mortem.

04

Leave clients able to leave

Code, infrastructure definitions, credentials and documentation belong to the client and live in the client’s accounts. Lock-in is not a retention strategy we are interested in.

Public sector

What government buyers usually ask.

Fair questions from any contracting officer, answered directly rather than buried in a proposal.

  • Contracting

We contract on standard federal and state terms, including FAR and DFARS flow-down clauses from primes, and propose firm-fixed-price wherever the scope is clear enough to support it.

  • Security

Controls are implemented to the framework your program uses, usually NIST SP 800-53 or 800-171, and evidence is produced as the work happens rather than reconstructed for an assessment.

  • Where systems run

US-region hosting by default. When a requirement calls for FedRAMP-authorized services or a government cloud region, the system runs there and nowhere else.

  • Accessibility

Public-facing systems are built to Section 508, with WCAG 2.2 AA as the working target and conformance documented for your records.

  • Working hours

Eastern Time, Monday to Friday, with agreed out-of-hours coverage for systems we operate. No offshore handover, and no account manager in a different time zone from the engineer.

Enquiries reach Emeka directly. So do escalations, scope questions and the awkward conversations about timelines. There is no account layer in between, and no handover to a delivery team you have never met.

For larger engagements Aletheia Labs brings in additional engineers under the same standards and the same point of contact. What does not change is who is answerable for the work.
