Service
Software Engineering
We design and build software for organizations that need a system to do a specific job properly, and to keep doing it after the contract ends.
In this service
- Business and case-management applications
- API design and development
- System integration
- Database engineering
- Legacy modernization
- Independent code assessment
Overview
Where this actually helps.
Most organizational software fails slowly. It works on the day it ships, then accumulates workarounds, undocumented behavior and one person who understands it. A few years later the cost of changing it exceeds the cost of living with it, and the program office is stuck.
We build against that outcome. That means readable code, explicit data models, tests around the parts that carry risk, and documentation written for the engineer who inherits the system, whether that is your staff, another contractor, or us.
Engagements range from a single, well-scoped application to a long-term engineering relationship where we are the team behind a product roadmap.
What this covers
Capabilities.
An engagement is scoped from these. Nothing here is a package: the combination depends on what you already have.
Business applications
Internal tools, case and records management, portals and workflow systems that replace spreadsheets and email chains with something auditable.
API design and development
REST and typed API layers with versioning, authentication, rate limiting and documentation that stays accurate because it is generated from the source.
System integration
Connecting financial, HR, CRM, payment and logistics systems so data moves once, in one direction, with a clear owner and an audit trail.
Database engineering
Schema design, indexing, query performance work, migrations and data modeling for systems that need to stay fast as records accumulate.
Legacy modernization
Assessing an existing system, isolating the parts worth keeping, and replacing the rest incrementally rather than in one high-risk rewrite.
Independent code assessment
A written, independent read on an existing codebase or vendor deliverable: what is sound, what is risk, and what it would cost to change.
How we work
How an engagement runs.
Four stages, in this order, on every project. The detail changes; the sequence does not.
-
01
Scope
We work through the problem with the people who live with it daily, then write down what the system must do, and what it explicitly will not do.
-
02
Architect
Data model, service boundaries, integration points and hosting shape are decided and documented before implementation starts.
-
03
Build
Short iterations against a working environment. You see the real system early and often, not a status report about it.
-
04
Hand over
Documentation, environment access, deployment procedure and a walkthrough. You can take the system elsewhere at any point.

Technical scope
What we work with.
Established tools chosen because they fit the problem and can be maintained, not because they are new.

Deliverables
What you are left with.
- A system your team can operate without calling us first.
- Source code, infrastructure definitions and documentation in your accounts, under government or client ownership.
